About Jamestown

the-cottage-restaurantThe Cottage Restaurant could not be located in a nicer place ! It  overlooks the River Shannon and Jamestown weir, that of Conor McPherson’s acclaimed play ‘The Weir’.  Jamestown is a short distance (just 5km) from Carrick on Shannon.  Those of us of a certain age will remember Jamestown as it used to be on the main Sligo to Dublin road and the village’s  narrow pillars of the old town gate which straddle the road.

Jamestown has its own jetty and is a popular stopping point for boats. who use the Jamestown Canal and Albert Lock to link to the Shannon.

Patrons of The Cottage Restaurant can wander down to The Arch Bar in the village for a post meal drink.  This family ran pub has a welcoming friendly atmosphere, with regular Live Music sessions and great beer. It has Sky Sports to catch up with all the must see sporting events, a Pool Room and a Wi-fi hub.
