“The Cottage at Jamestown is as picture pretty as it’s name suggests. Shamzuri – known as Sham – has made this once tiny house his own little place of food heaven. Sham’s cooking is a subtle blend of Asian influences from his mother’s kitchen, to modern Irish and European favourites. All of them created with the freshest Irish produce. We like the upbeat feel at The Cottage. The young team add vibrancy and Sham’s lively personality really lights up the place.
He’s happy to show off his garden outside. A few raised beds and a polytunnel provide an array of vegetables, fruit, herbs and salads for his menus. A plum tree bears heavy with fruit in good years – used for homemade preserves and chutneys. Menus are kept simple. After the list of starters and main event, enjoy a house dessert selection or plate of excellent Irish farmhouse cheeses. All suppliers are proudly named. You can see where your food comes from here. ” Read the full Good Food Ireland review.
“Set close to a weir about three miles from Carrick-on-Shannon, this friendly spot has the feel of a real find. It’s Langkawi meets Leitrim and Hanifa has created something original, playing to the best of both cultures.” Read full review
“His beautiful cooking meant he was into the Bridgestone Guides straightaway – our reviewer described his dish of rump of lamb as the best thing she had eaten anywhere in two years.” See Full Bridgestone Guide Listing
